Redefining Painting

27. März – 22. Mai 2010

Der Kunstprojektraum Hebel_121 präsentiert zum ersten Mal eine installative Arbeit der beiden australischen Kunstlerinnen aus Sydney: Pam Aitken und Marlene Sarroff.
Pam Aitken is exploring ‚Individual Perspective Perception‘ for site-specific work. The new work will involve transforming 3D areas spatially using fundamental 2D geometrical forms. The materials are mass produced, and will be made into non-objective structures and paintings. The implications are that reality of perception of each viewer is completely different, even though looking at the same picture or at the same spatial situation.

Marlene Sarroff is constantly investigating randomness, order and chaos. Her focus is on the premise that probabilities are determined by the dynamics of a whole system. Her work reveals the opportunities for a vast array of variable configurations and arrangements. Many separate parts come together as a whole, and later are reconfigured into different patterns. Her work is developped of everyday materials, where the final form evolves from the innate properties and structures of the material itself.
