Hebel_121 is delighted to present for the first time New York based artist Andrew Huston with a site specific installation.
Continuing his interest with reflective materials and mirrors, Huston has installed curtain walls of aluminum leaf mesh, a floor to ceiling installation of receding panels that occupy the central space of the gallery. The metal leat gilded on to an open weave fabric creates a transparent and perceptual environment that is both metaphorical and optical. Space, time and matter.
With an ephemeral quality thanks to its lightness and silver hues, the installation makes for a physical experience, as accentuated by the more prosaic materials of gauze, aluminum and copper/zinc. The viewer is invited to walk between the curtains to experience the weight of the surrounding space.
