Hebel_121 is presenting the two artists with a collaborative space installation for the first time in Switzerland.

Mash-up is a term used in music for mixing two songs into a new one. The original songs will stay recognizable, but getting an unexpected way of experiencing them. Guido Nieuwendijk and Marije Vermeulen will execute wall paintings that flow together on site. They use and copy the shapes of the space, and show new paintings. Both artists have an abstract graphical languagein common, using different approaches and working methods. In Mash-up, it results in two individual distinctive styles within one installation. Their works are clear-cut, to the point and are about turning small thoughts and ideas into art. They both use the abstract tradition, placing it in current time by playing with its boundaries and bending its rules.
